Star Trek actor Kenneth Mitchell dies aged 49

Star Trek actor Kenneth Mitchell has sadly passed away at the age of 49.

The Canadian star was best known for his appearances in Captain Marvel, Ghost Whisperer and the Star Trek series.

Kenneth was diagnosed with ALS more than five years ago.

In a statement posted by his family to his Instagram account, they said: “With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son and dear friend.”

An obituary was attached to the post where they said Kenneth was “an inspirational work of art to all the hearts he touched”.

The actor’s family also spoke of how he faced “a series of awful challenges” from ALS also known as Motor Neuron’s Disease for five-and-a-half years.

His family continued to pay tribute to him as: “a hope seeker, daydreamer, dream believer, soccer player, beach walker, bear hugger… and more than anything else, a proud father.”

The late star previously revealed that he was suffering from ALS in an interview with PEOPLE in 2020, and said he had been using a powered wheelchair.

Kenneth was married to actress Susan May Pratt and the pair had two children together.
