It has been revealed that Rebel Wilson’s bombshell claims “were the catalyst” in Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen’s divorce.
The couple, who have been married for almost 14 years announced their separation on Friday.
It was also revealed that the pair who first met back in 2001, have been separated since 2023.
Both Sacha and Isla shared a photo of the couple dressed in tennis gear to announce their split.
The Instagram story read: “After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down.”
“In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change.”
“We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
The news of their split comes after Rebel Wilson branded Sacha an “a**hole” in her upcoming memoir- Rebel Rising.
According to sources, the Australian actress’ claims were a huge source of tension in their marriage.
Last week, Rebel revealed she was facing potential legal action, after writing about her experience working with a former co-star in her upcoming book Rebel Rising.
The 44-year-old has since revealed she was referring to Sacha, who she starred alongside in 2016’s Grimsby.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, she wrote: “I will not be silenced by high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers.”
“The a****** I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.”
“He is trying to stop press coming out about my book. But the book WILL come out and you will all know the truth.”
The pair worked together on the 2016 comedy Grimsby, in which she played the role of Dawn – who was his character Nobby’s wife.
“It turned out to be the worst professional experience of my career,” she confessed.
Rebel claimed she felt “disrespected” on set, and said: “It’s one thing for someone who is fat to exploit their size for comedy, but it’s another for somebody else to humiliate you.”
And while Rebel had a no-nudity clause in her contact, she alleged that Sacha asked her to film a scene where she had to run naked across a football pitch – which she refused.
“I’m sharing my story now because the more women talk about things like this, hopefully the less it happens. And hopefully fewer women have to work harder just to respect themselves,” she said.
