Kanye West banned from performing at the Grammys ‘due to concerning online behaviour’

Kanye West’s performance at the 2022 Grammys has been cancelled.

According to The Blast, the rapper received a phone call on Friday evening, informing him he has been pulled from the lineup of performers.

Insiders told the outlet that the awards show is “unfortunately” taking this position “due to what they deem to be concerning online behaviour.”

The Blast also reported that the decision was also made partially because Trevor Noah, who Kanye recently hit out at online, is hosting the ceremony.

Kanye was temporarily suspended from Instagram last week after he slammed Trevor for speaking out about his ongoing drama with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

Speaking on The Daily Show, Trevor said: “What [Kim is] going through is terrifying to watch, and it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave.”

The comedian compared Kanye’s situation with Kim to his own experience witnessing abuse as a child, and said people thought his mother was “overreacting” before his stepfather shot her in the head.

“As a society, we have to ask ourselves questions. Do we wish to stand by and watch a car crash when we thought we saw it coming?” the 38-year-old asked.

In response, Kanye posted a racial slur aimed towards Trevor, which has since been deleted for violating Instagram’s policies on hate speech and bullying.

Fellow rapper The Game has since defended Kanye amid news of his Grammys performance cancellation.

He took to Instagram on Saturday to share a post that reads: “When will all the BLACK entertainers, Athletes, Actors, Producers, Writers, Directors, Media etc…figure it out.”

The 42-year-old wrote: “The Grammys have at the last minute decided to pull @kanyewest from performing on the show as if we didn’t know it was coming.”

“Could be because @trevornoah is hosting and there was a conversation held amongst his team & the academy that led to the decision or because Ye’s account was suspended just days ago for reasons unknown especially in a world where all the negativities of the world can be found on the same app with no repercussions or suspensions.”

“We’ll just say it’s all of the above & a continuous disrespect for us & all that we have brought to the table in entertainment, media & sports over the last 100 years especially,” he added.
