Britney Spears’ alleged assault case has been handed over to prosecutors.
Earlier this month, police were called to the singer’s home in California, after she was accused of slapping a mobile phone out of the hands of her housekeeper.
No one was injured in the alleged incident, which is said to have taken place on August 16.
The pop star’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart, who was hired last month amid her conservatorship battle, dismissed the claims as “overblown sensational tabloid fodder”.
Captain Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has since confirmed the case has been handed to prosecutors.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s office will decide if Britney should be charged with an offence.
