Michelle Keegan and Maya Jama tipped to battle it out for major new role

Michelle Keegan and Maya Jama are both front runners to be the next Bond Girl in the iconic spy film series.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been “formally offered the opportunity” to play the next James Bond, but has not officially accepted the role yet.

According to Coral Betting, Michelle and Maya are the strongest contenders to play his love interest.

The Fool Me Once star, who is keen to take the role, has had her odds reduced to 4-5, while the Love Island host’s odds have been slashed in half standing at 5-1.

Coral’s John Hill said: “Many punters believe Michelle Keegan will join Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the next Bond film as the female lead.”

“The Fool Me Once star is now odds-on in our betting to be involved. But we have also seen some outside support for Maya Jama. The Love Island presenter has had her odds slashed in half to be the female lead.”

Last month, it was reported that Aaron had been “formally offered the opportunity” to play the iconic British spy.

According to The Sun: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.”

“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

In an interview with Numero, the actor reacted humbly to the rumours he is set to play the next 007.

He told the outlet: “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.”

Sydney Sweeney is also hotly tipped to be the next Bond girl alongside Aaron, becoming a surprise favourite.

According to betideas.com, the American actress leads the market at 3/1 to be awarded the role when the newest reboot occurs, while Millie Bobby Brown (6/1) is second in the market.

The spy thriller is to start filming later this year.
