If Aaron accepts the opportunity he would be the seventh actor to take on the lead in the Bond franchise.

A recent poll created by the Daily Mail suggested that Suicide Squad actor Idris Elba was the public’s number one choice for the role.

However, the 51-year-old actor has since come out and said he would not be available due to his successful crime drama, Luther.

According to The Sun: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.”

“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

In an interview with Numero last week, Aaron reacted humbly to the rumours he is set to play the next 007.

Aaron told the outlet: “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.”

Cillian Murphy was also said to be “in the running” to be the next James Bond.

The Irish actor impressed producers with his critically acclaimed performance in Oppenheimer.

The Cork native was the first Irish actor to win Best Actor at this year’s Academy Awards in Hollywood.

According to The Sun, the Bond bosses are keen for the Peaky Blinders star to take on the role of 007.

A source said: “Cillian is the toast of Hollywood right now and this would be the ultimate role.”

“This is a way to elevate the Bond franchise with an actor who is at the very top of his game.”
