WATCH: Hozier: 'I'm itching to write new music'

Despite announcing he’ll be taking a break from music, Take Me to Church singer Hozier has admitted he’s “itching” to write new tunes.

Due to touring commitments, the 25-year-old revealed he won’t be able to make “meaningful” music until March.

“I am writing some new material at the moment but I will be on tour until March of next year so it’s very very difficult to [record]” he said.

“Work begins and ends with ideas so until that time, I won’t be able to do a lot of meaningful work.

“I’m itching to make new music and get working,” he told Billboard.com.

Meanwhile, the From Eden singer admitted although he loves performing to fans across the globe his head is telling him to start creating new music again.

“Being on the road is incredible, it is apart of the dream, it’s amazing to be doing it and it’s so rewarding to play your music on the other side of the planet to an audience,” he said.

“Especially when you start, you start in a bedroom noodling on a guitar coming up with ideas.

“I think because that’s where you start, you get hungry for that again,” he admitted.

“You’re on the road and your having an incredible experience but there’s still this voice in the back of your head that wants to go back to your room on your own somewhere writing music…

“Because the hunger was making music is to create music rather than to perform it.

“For me, there’s always that voice in the back of my head ‘Get to it, get back to it’.”
