Ronan Keating has spoken movingly about the moment his mum Marie passed away from breast cancer.
The Boyzone star reveals he had to call his two brothers who were in New York to given them the devastating news in 1998, when he was just 20.
And speaking as part of Stand Up To Cancer, the 37-year-old admitted he was too heartbroken to tell them she had actually passed away.
“I remember stepping off a flight at Dublin Airport. My phone rang. It was my brother – to tell me that mam had cancer.
“Being there at the hospital the morning my mum passed is one of the most vivid memories in my 37 years. I will never forget it.
“Two of my brothers were in New York. I had to call them to come home. I couldn’t tell them she had passed away. But they knew.
“It’s not the sort of news you want to give to anybody, especially her sons.”
