The Crown creator reveals the one thing they chose not to depict in the final season – as mixed reviews roll in

The Crown creator has revealed the one thing that they refrained from depicting in the final season of the hit Netflix show, as fans reviews of the show roll in.

Part One of the sixth and final season of the show was finally released on Thursday and is now available to stream on Netflix.

The remaining six episodes will join the streaming platform on Thursday, December 14.

The first four episodes cover 1997 when the late Princess of Wales began dating Dodi Al-Fayed.

The final six episodes will document the years up to 2005 when Prince Charles married his now-wife Camilla Parker-Bowles.

The creator of show, Peter Morgan, has now revealed in an interview with Variety, that the showrunners chose not to delve into the conspiracy theories surrounding Diana’s death.

“This was never going to be a story about how did she die? The police inquiry sorted all that out.”

“We were never interested in that. It was always about, what was the impact on the family before and after her death?”

“What was the truth of the nature of her relationship with Dodi Fayed?,” the showrunner added.

Elizabeth Debicki, who portrays the late Princess in the series added: “It’s a tricky conversation to have because you can’t say something like legacy because it’s not — it’s an intelligent drama.”

“But at the same time, we know that we’re dealing with an audience’s blend of real-life memory and then an invention in the television show.”

“We did tread with as much respect as we possibly could have had — and that I know for sure.”

“So, I’m glad because when I watched it back, I realised what a serious thing it was to make,” the actress added.

The highly-anticipated series has been met with mixed reviews by fans who have already taken to the streaming service, to binge watch the first four episodes.

Fans have now flocked to X to give their take on the show’s dramatic first four episodes.
