Footballer Daniel Sturridge has reportedly signed up for the upcoming 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
According to The UK Sun, the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker will show off his moves on the dance floor when the show returns to BBC later this year.
A source told the publication: “Daniel was a massive football star and had loads of personality on the pitch. Fans use to love the dance he did after scoring a goal — so he showed Strictly bosses that he had rhythm.”
The insider continued: “He hasn’t been able to play football for a while and his professional career has petered out. When the Strictly offer came he jumped at the chance to do something different and have some fun.”
“Producers are always keen to get footballers on board. It encourages sports fans to tune into the show.”
While Daniel has been off the pitch since last year, he has been entertaining his 4million Instagram followers with his football commentary.
Four celebrities have already been confirmed for Strictly 2023, with more stars set to be added to the line-up in the coming days.
The confirmed line-up so far includes actress Amanda Abbington, TV presenter Angela Rippon, actor Layton Williams and news anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
