Christopher Eccleston: 'Irish actor Richard Dormer is like a BROTHER to me'

Sky fortitude 8

Christopher Eccleston has revealed Irish actor Richard Dormer is “like a brother” to him.

They both star together in upcoming Sky Atlantic Drama Fortitude along with Michael Gambon and Stanley Tucci.

And the Doctor Who star thinks the new drama series will be the role that turns Richard into a star.

“Richard, I love him. It was the first time I had met him and I think he’s a star, I think this will make him a star and rightly so,” he told Goss.ie.

He added: “Richard is also a fantastic writer, I read his play while we were out there. He’s a mate for life, he feels like a brother to me for life.”

Richard is not the first Irish actor the 28 Days Later star has worked with over the years.

“I’ve worked with Brendan Gleeson and I’ve worked with Cillian, I’ve worked with Liam Cunningham. I was in The Others with Finnoula Flanagan, I’ve worked with the mafia, they were all great,” he said.

At home: Christopher didn’t mind the tough Icelandic weather | SKY

The new Sky drama filmed for six months in rural Iceland, an environment Christopher admits was perfect for him.

He said: “I had a great time, I love the place. I’ve worked there twice now, I’m a nature lover.

“It was perfect terrain for me, when I wasn’t out running I was in the bar, and when I wasn’t in the bar I was with a great bunch of actors.”

“The cold doesn’t bother me, people get a bit carried away with all that weather stuff, it doesn’t phase me, I love it. I prefer to be in a rural environment. It wasn’t a tough job, the only tough thing about my job is the unemployment.”
