This is why Taylor Swift skipped the 2024 Met Gala

Taylor Swift skipped out on the 2024 Met Gala, which took place on Monday night in New York.

The songstress was rumoured to attend the star-studded event, where attendees were invited to celebrate the Costume Institute’s exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” – with the dress code being “The Garden of Time”.

However, the pop megastar skipped the biggest night in fashion to focus on preparing for the European leg of her Eras Tour.

In the lead-up to the Gala, there were rumours that the singer might make her red carpet debut at the star-studded event with her new beau Travis Kelce.

An insider had told Page Six that the pop superstar would “be attending the lavish event. But there is no word yet on whether Kelce will accompany her.”

This came after TMZ reported the opposite, having said that the two had received an invite for the night, but both RSVP’d no.

Taylor has gone to the fundraiser six times before, and her first appearance was back in 2008.

The Eras Tour hits Europe for the first time this Thursday in Paris.

The singer’s hit tour started over a year ago, and its major success has lead to Taylor being declared a billionaire last month.

Forbes released their annual billionaire list for 2024, and Taylor landed in 14th place thanks to her estimated $1.1billion fortune.

The pop singer’s earnings were based on the estimated value of her music catalogue, her five homes, and her earnings from streaming deals, music sales, concert tickets and merchandise.

The star’s prolific songwriting and re-records of her hit albums, along with the major success of her worldwide tour, have helped her reach billionaire status.

Her 146-date worldwide tour kicked off last March, with tickets selling like gold dust.

According to Pollstar’s 2023 year-end chart, Taylor’s Eras Tour is the first tour to cross the $1 billion mark.
