The Top 10 Things You NEED To Stay Glam At Electric Picnic

The time to dust off your favourite glittery hot pants is FINALLY here, as Electric Picnic is just around the corner.

While things tend to get pretty messy at festivals, we all try our very best (sometimes) to stay glam.

Whether dousing yourself in glitter, or sporting the cutest pair of wellies makes you feel fabulous – we’ve got the perfect list of must-have items to keep you feeling fresh down in Stradbally this year.

1. Glitter, Lots of Glitter…

glitter

We know glitter isn’t exactly an essential daily item, but for festivals – it definitely is!

Whether you literally just lash glitter all over your face, or try out the latest glitter eyebrow trend – the more, the merrier!

Inglot do some amazing pots of extremely pigmented glitter, but if you’re looking for something a little bit cheaper – Barry M and NYX Cosmetics stock some unreal body glitter in selected Boots stores.

2. Bum Bag

bumbag

We know, we know. The dreaded bumbag isn’t everyones cup of tea – but it’s the only way of keeping all your items (phone, money, etc) on your person.

Plus, sporting a bumbag means you, more than likely, won’t be stuck bawling your eyes out in a portaloo because you lost your phone.

And – you can actually get some nice ones nowadays, check these two out from ASOS here, and here.

3. Suncream

While the weather is rumoured to be not so great, you’re still gonna need some good aul SPF!

Frolicking around a field in Stradbally with no suncream on definitely won’t do you any favours, so get yourself down to Boots or your nearest pharmacy to stock up.

P.S. If you want to avoid the risk of looking like a pale suncream ghost, try out the Garnier Ambre Solaire Golden Protect suncream – which is filled with tiny gold flecks to give you a gorgeous golden glow.

4. Toiletry Essentials

This is a given, but you simply HAVE to stock up on some festival toiletry essentials before heading down to EP.

Whether its dry shampoo, wet wipes, toothpaste or deodorant – make sure you’ve got these on your packing list, and lots of it! (there’s always one who wants to borrow your stuff…)

Also, do not, we repeat, DO NOT… forget toilet roll.

5. Saviour Spray

What do you mean by saviour spray you say?! WELL, saviour spray is basically ice cold water in a can.. and it just might save your life.

Let’s face it, getting hot, sweaty and ruining your make-up in a dance tent ain’t fun – but a light mist of freshness could totally avoid that scenario.

Eau Thermal Avéne do an amazing Thermal Spring Water spray, available in Boots for €8.99, and La Roche-Posay offer a similar spray in a smaller can for €4.99.

6. Raincoat

Like we said, the weather report hasn’t been great for this weekends EP festivities.

So to avoid any possible disasters, it would be best to bring along a decent raincoat.

Don’t worry though, raincoats don’t have to unfashionable – there’s plenty of festival-worthy ones out there, including this FAB holographic mac from Topshop.

7. Wellies

wellie

Another festival essential – rain, hail or shine – is a good pair of wellies.

Wellies are worn to be wrecked, so we wouldn’t go spending big bucks on a pair unless you really wanted to.

Schuh do some pretty fancy pairs of wellies, but if you’re looking for something cheap and wearable, Penneys have some cute short wellie boots in at the moment.

8. Sunglasses

Sunglasses are ESSENTIAL for a festival, whether its sunny or not.

A top tip for staying glam at a festival is keeping your sunglasses firmly ON your face, basically so nobody can see how wrecked/terrible you actually look after 3 days living in a two man tent with 7 girls.

Now, sunglasses go missing VERY easily at festivals, so we wouldn’t go bringing your nicest pair of Ray Bans – so opt for a cheaper high street pair that won’t leave you feeling too sad if you lost them.

9. Swimming Gear

For the first time ever, you will be able to SWIM at Electric Picnic this year in the Stradbally estate lake.

After a long night of dancing in the woods, a dip in the lake is the perfect thing to wake you up, and you’ll definitely need some glam swim gear for the occasion.

And there’s plenty of high street stores selling gorgeous (and festival-worthy) gear – so you’re guaranteed to pick up something amazing!

10. Power Bank

Trust us, this will be your BABY at Electric Picnic.

How are you supposed to take fabulous selfies with a phone that’s out of battery?!

There’s a tonne of places you can pick up power banks, even Penneys have some great ones for just €9.
