Ronan Keating’s older brother killed in car crash in Co. Mayo

Ronan Keating’s older brother Ciaran has been killed in a car crash in Co. Mayo.

According to The Irish Independent, Ciaran and his wife Ann Marie were travelling to watch their son Ruari play for Cork City on Saturday afternoon when the tragedy occurred.

Ciaran, who was in his 50s, suffered fatal injuries in the two-vehicle accident on the N5 at Ballymiles.

The accident occurred on a stretch of road known as an accident black-spot, where gardaí often deploy speed cameras.

Ciaran’s wife Ann Marie, who is a secondary school teacher, is understood to be receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries in Mayo University Hospital.

The male driver of the second vehicle and a male passenger is receiving treatment in hospital for serious injuries.

In a statement Cork City FC said: “All at Cork City FC are deeply saddened at the passing of Ciaran Keating, father of our player Ruairí Keating.”

“We extend our deepest sympathies to Ruairí and the entire Keating family at this exceptionally difficult time. May he rest in peace.”

“We ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be confirmed in due course.”
