Ronan Keating: 'I was holier than holy before my affair – I set myself up for a fall'

Ronan Keating has revealed he set himself up for a fall after portraying himself as “holier than holy” to the media.

The singer, whose affair with backing dancer Francine Cornell was revealed in 2010, admitted that Irish people still see him as a villain.

“It’s hard in Ireland because it’s such a small country and it has that small country syndrome,” he explained.

“I’ve made mistakes by moaning about it in the past, but you know what? This is what I chose to do.

“You’ve got to just like it or lump it, Ronan, just feckin’ deal with it, man. I was always setting myself up for the fall.

“I was always holier than holy, cleaner than clean. And I was happy about that, and I promoted it. That was only ever going to go one way.”

Speaking to the Sunday Time,s Ronan revealed he is moving back home to Ireland to watch his three children, Ali, Jack and Missy.

“I f***** up. I’m actually looking forward to going back to Ireland in this frame of mind. I’m going back for the kids; I’m not going back for anyone else.

“I want to watch them grow up. They need me. I want to be there,” he explained.
