Holly Carpenter is getting abuse online for an article she wrote – where she speaks about spending New Year’s Eve with Danny O’Reilly.
The Dublin model and The Coronas frontman have been dating for a few months, but Holly calls him her boyfriend for the first time in her latest Herald column, which went online on New Year’s Day.
In the piece she wrote: “My boyfriend Danny O’Reilly was obviously playing with The Coronas who were the headline act, and they went on stage about 11.45pm and performed for about an hour.”
And Holly has been receiving online hate since the piece went live, with internet users claiming it’s the worst piece of journalism they’ve seen and comparing it to children’s writing.

Worst journalism of 2016 so far. When I last wrote a piece like this, I had to draw and colour in the pictures too. https://t.co/VtZtnfavto

It’s only the 1st of January and already the oddest article of the year has been printed in the Indo. Read it. https://t.co/zfQZcvUfEw

She goes on to list the other acts that played at Dublin’s NYF gig in the 3Arena and writes: “Afterwards, there was an after-party in the 3Arena itself, which was really handy as it meant we didn’t have to move somewhere else.
“Beforehand, a bunch of us went for a bite to eat at The Port House on South William Street before heading to the gig. It was a great laugh.”
And Holly ends the piece saying she’s had a great start to 2016, but we’re guessing she wasn’t expecting this reaction.
“So I had a brilliant start to the New Year, but I have definitely had my fair fill of alcohol. It’s time to be good from now on – at least for a while,” she wrote.
