Colm Hayes SLAMS the late Gerry Ryan’s ‘fake friends’

Colm Hayes has slammed the ‘fake friends’ of the late Gerry Ryan.

The broadcaster, who recently announced his departure from 2FM, has expressed his anger after “so-called friends” used Gerry’s name to promote themselves after his tragic death in 2010.

“These so-called friends who wanted to stamp all over Gerry’s name to promote themselves. They decided there was a profit to be made,” he told the Irish Sun.

The legendary radio host was found dead at his Leeson Street apartment back in April 2010, and according to reports, traces of cocaine in his system likely caused cardiac arrhythmia.

Gerry’s long-time pal Colm has now admitted that he’s disappointed that Gerry’s memory was painted in such a bad light, after the cause of his death was revealed.

“Gerry got painted into a corner as if that (coke) was the only thing in his whole life. As if it was the only thing that killed him.

“There were people who set themselves up in the press as angelic forces. But if you’re a true friend you talk to that person when they are alive.

“Only a fake friend talks about that person when they’re dead because there’s f**k all you can do when they’re dead,” he added.
