Kate Middleton shares sweet birthday tribute to Prince William following her return to public work

Kate Middleton has shared a sweet birthday tribute to Prince William following her return to public work last week.

The Princess of Wales stepped away from public work following an announcement that she is undergoing treatment for cancer, which was discovered after she underwent abdominal surgery in January.

Last week, the Princess returned to social media to give an update on her cancer treatment ahead of her return to work at the monarch’s Trooping the Colour.

Taking to Instagram, Kate shared a sweet picture of William and their children – George, Charlotte and Louis – with a touching message for her husband to celebrate his birthday.

She wrote: “Happy birthday Papa, we all love you so much! C x”

The snap is taken by the Princess of Wales, showing the royals having fun and spending family time together.

Last weekend, the 42-year-old joined the rest of the Royal Family at Trooping the Colour ceremony.

The mother-of-three joined King Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and the other royals on Buckingham Palace’s balcony for the RAF flypast.

The Trooping is held every year as an official birthday event for the monarch, even though Charles’s actual birthday is on November 14 – becoming an annual event from 1760.

The princess was spotted in the Royal carriage with her three children, George, Charlotte and Louis on the way to Buckingham palace.

This was the first time she had been seen in public since she announced her diagnosis.

The 42-year-old was then spotted with her son, Louis, taking a peek at the Horse Guards Parade ceremony from a window during celebration.

She was then joined by the rest of her children for the ending of the parade.

Kate made her anticipated return when she joined the rest of the royal family on the balcony at Buckingham palace.

Prior to her public appearance, the Princess returned to social media to give an update on her cancer treatment.

She wrote: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.”

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.”

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

“Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me. C.”

In her statement the Kate confirmed that she will make a return to public work this summer after reports that she may not this year.
