Ryan Tubridy's BBC slot has audience 40 TIMES as big as on 2FM

Ryan Tubridy has been praised by a top BBC boss – after presenting to an audience more than 40 times as big as he’s used to.

The Late Late Show host has been filling in for Simon Mayo on his afternoon show on BBC Radio 2 over the last two weeks.

Now it has emerged that Tubs has had an audience of six million tuning into him at the BBC – 42 times bigger than on 2FM.

And it looks like he’ll definitely be invited back, after the station’s head of programmes Lewis Carney said he was extremely impressed.

“Ryan has been a huge success sitting in for Simon Mayo on Radio 2’s Drive Time Show,” he told the Herald.

“He’s brought his infectious warmth and humour to our airwaves and engaged the audience with his excellent presenting skill. We are absolutely delighted, and so are our listeners.”

It comes as Ryan has been hard hit at 2FM, after seeing himself becoming only the second most listened to show on the station, behind Nicky Byrne.

2FM bosses have been forced to deny reports he is being moved to Radio 1 after going down to 144,000 listeners.

Yesterday, Goss.ie told how it was claimed 2FM bosses were being pig-headed not moving him back to his original radio home.
