Today FM star Ian Dempsey has said Ray D’Arcy leaving the station isn’t a huge deal.
The Breakfast Show host wished Ray the best of luck, after the announcement that he will present a new daily show on RTE Radio 1.
“It is like as if you are reading about somebody who has passed on or something like that,” Ian said.

“Nobody has died here it is just one person who has decided to move from one job to another.
“And the person who was doing the job at this particular company will be replaced by somebody else,” he added.
“He has moved on and we wish him the very best of luck.”
Ian admitted that switching to RTE was a good move, and that the station will benefit from new listeners.

“He will bring a chunk of listeners to the station that probably never listened to it before,” he said.
“He can introduce a lot of his existing ideas to a new audience.”
