This is when Netflix will BAN password-sharing

Are you still using your ex’s Netflix, or logged in to a friend’s account? Then we have some bad news for you…

Earlier this year, the streaming giant began cracking down on password-sharing by rolling out paid sharing in Canada, New Zealand, Spain and Portugal.

As part of those plans, the primary Netflix user has had the option to add two more people outside of their homes to the plan for an additional CAD$7.99 per month per person in Canada, NZD$7.99 in New Zealand, €3.99 in Portugal, and €5.99 in Spain.

Netflix have since confirmed that they will be rolling out the paid sharing plans in the US and other countries during the current quarter (April to June).

They did not reveal pricing for the US, or the other countries that will be part of the Q2 rollout, but said that the pricing will be higher in more affluent countries.

In a statement, the streamer said: “We learn more with each rollout and we’ve incorporated the latest learnings, which we think will lead to even better results. To implement these changes, we shifted out the timing of the broad launch from late Q1 to Q2.”

“We are planning on a broad rollout [of the password sharing crackdown], including in the US, in Q2. We’re pleased with the most recent launches of paid sharing, and while we could have launched broadly in Q1 [the first three months of 2023], we found opportunities to improve the experience for members.”
