U2 reveal 'playing the full iNNOCENSE + eXPERIENCE show in Dublin wouldn't make sense'

Irish rock legends U2 have revealed that their new tour won’t play Dublin in current form because there is no arena big enough to hold it.

Confirming that their iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE stage show is too big for Ireland’s 3Arena, The Edge admitted the band will consider playing acoustic gigs.

“There may be acoustic shows. We will play the (3Arena) but we can’t play the present show,” he said.

“It would be a terrible venue for it. We won’t be able to bring this particular show to Dublin, but we’re definitely going to be doing Dublin. We just haven’t figured out how.”

Speaking to the Irish Times, Bono described their new tour as a “DNA mindf**k” revealing their song Cedarwood Road – named after the road he grew up on in Glasnevin, will feature in the show.

They also confirmed Bono’s son Elijah will play a young version of the frontman in a film accompanying the show and his old bedroom will feature in the clip.

“You will see me as a teenage boy in that bedroom. It will look like me, but it will not be me.

“It will be my son Elijah,” Bono said.

Earlier this week, the band’s tour was momentarily thrown into jeopardy after the sad passing of Larry Mullin’s father.
