Ronan Keating: I'd have ended up pulling pints in New York Irish bar if Boyzone flopped

Ronan Keating expects he would have ended up pouring pints for a living – if his singing career didn’t work out.

The Boyzone star revealed he had been planning on going across to America on a sports scholarship before getting into the boyband.

But Ronan, 37, believes he wouldn’t have been a good enough sprinter to make the big leagues – and would have ended up working in an Irish bar in New York.

“I was planning on following my older brothers on a sports scholarship to the US,” he explained.

“I’m not sure that I would have been good enough though so would have probably ended up in an Irish bar in NYC!”

Recently Ronan revealed he makes over €1million annually – but says he’s had to make a lot of sacrifices.

“I think anyone who has to spend time working away from his or her family understands what a sacrifice that is,” he added.

“But I’m lucky that they’ve always stood by me and it’s allowed us to experience some amazing times together over the years.”

Ronan’s new career journey kicks off tomorrow when he debuts in Once the Musical on the West End – and admits he’s extremely nervous.
