Ronan Keating hopes to bring Boyzone to the West End – with a MUSICAL of the band's story

Ronan Keating has revealed he wants to make a musical of the story of Boyzone.

The Dubliner has recently started on the West End, taking on the lead role in Once.

But the 37-year-old has already come up with a plan for his next stage role – creating a Boyzone musical.

He said: “I’ve always thought the story of the band would make a great musical or film so hopefully one day that could happen.

“It would be great to find five up and coming young actors from Dublin to play us.”

Now Ronan is expecting his bandmates to come and see him in Once – revealing they’ve been very supportive.

He said: “They’ve been really supportive as we all always are with each others solo projects. I can’t wait for them to come and see the show.”

Speaking to What’s On Stage, Ronan added that he has found being on the West End stage to be easy to deal with – but not the guitar playing.

He said: “There’s a lot of guitar playing in the role of Guy so that has been the biggest challenge by far.

“Being on stage feels comfortable to me but I’m expecting this to be a whole new experience to my usual solo and Boyzone gigs.”
