Meet the Irishman who was the brains of Katy Perry's shark-tastic Super Bowl half-time show

This is the Irishman who was behind Katy Perry’s amazing Super Bowl half-time show.

The US singer broke ratings records for Super Bowl half-time shows, and it was all thanks to Dubliner Baz Halpin.

The creative director came up with the plan to bring Katy, 30, into the stadium on the back of a massive metallic tiger.

Baz also provided the much-loved dancing sharks, before transforming her into a shooting star, flying her across the Arizona stadium

He told Billboard: “I used to say, ‘That’s ridiculous, we can never do that. Now I just say, ‘You want to fly in on a giant banana and burst into flames? We’ll make it work.”

It’s not Baz’s first time working with massive names – after previously masterminding tours for P!nk and Taylor Swift.

He also put together all the plans for Britney Spears’ new residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

But Nicky Byrne revealed that Baz actually got his start working for Westlife.

The 2FM star said: “He started off doing lights on our tours many moons ago. That’s incredible! He’s a lovely fella.”
