Not All We Want – Kodaline reveal fans HATED their new track Honest

Kodline star Mark Prendergast has revealed many of Kodaline’s fans weren’t happy with their latest song.

The Dublin rockers latest offering, Honest, is yet to make the charts however Mark reckons the fans will grow to love it eventually.

“It’s funny, the first time we heard it back, it’s like putting on a new jacket that you don’t really like that much but then you wear it again and you’re like ‘Oh I like this jacket’.

He added: “So when people first listen they’re like ‘hmm, I’m not sure’ but on the second or third listen they’ll be singing it.”

The band have recruited a top music producer who has worked with the likes of U2 and Snow Patrol to make their upcoming album Coming Up For Air.

“We worked with this producer called Jack Knifley. He’s worked with Snow Patrol and U2 and Taylor Swift, he’s worked with a lot of people.”

Speaking to Eoghan McDermot on 2fm, Mark also confessed Kodaline partied with The Voice of Ireland presenter in Las Vegas for Niall Horan’s 21st birthday.

“We actually got in trouble that time because we had a weekend off and of course you coaxed us up to Vegas for the weekend. That was a great weekend,” Mark admitted.

The All I Want stars have been working on finding a happy medium between playing their old hits mixed with new material since their New Year’s Eve gig.

“It was on dame street and the crowd was amazing, it was the first time we had played some of our new songs so we were stepping out of our comfort zone,” Mark said.

“We had all these new songs but then we have to remember people want to hear the old songs so we’re kind of finding a happy medium between old stuff and new stuff.”
