Jedward pull out of Eurovision race – claiming RTE didn't give enough time to find a winner

Pop twins Jedward have pulled out of the Eurovision – claiming they weren’t given enough time to pick a winning tune.

The Dublin lads – who have represented Ireland twice before and came eighth in 2011 with Lipstick – believe RTE’s two week timeframe wasn’t long enough.

Sources close to the wacky twosome also claim other acts were tipped off by RTE about what was happening.

“It all happened very quickly this year. It was a very short space of time to get your song in and Jedward got no advance warning,” an insider said.

“They weren’t privy to what was going on while other songwriters and acts seem to have their songs ready to roll.”

However RTE denied any acts had been tipped off before they announced a shakeup to Eurovision plans, which saw the mentor system dropped.

New band: Michele, Leanne and Kim hope to win Eurovision

A spokeswoman told the Irish Sun: “Ireland entering Eurovision each year is not exactly a secret, of course acts will be keeping songs ready to go but absolutely no one was tipped off.”

Previously John said: “We would represent Ireland again. RTE are looking for an act who can make it into the finals. “We believe we can win for Ireland. All we need is the right song.”

Acts who are entering include a new girlband, which features Michele McGrath, Kim Hayden and Leanne Moore, as well as Mary Byrne and Ryan Dolan.
