Hometown land their first EVER No 1 hit – beating off Ed Sheeran and One Direction

Louis Walsh’s new boyband Hometown have finally reached the big time with their single Where I Belong hitting number one on the Irish charts.

The Irish singers have beaten the likes of Ed Sheeran and One Direction to land the number one spot.

Speaking to Goss.ie Louis Walsh said he was over the moon with the band’s success.

“It’s such a fabulous start for them. Sony Ireland have done a great job. This really is just the beginning,” he said.

Speaking to Goss.ie, the band revealed they did flips outside the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin when they heard the good news.

“It just went crazy. We nearly got kicked out. I did a backflip in the Shelbourne and then ran out. They started giving out to us, but we didn’t care,” Dale told Goss.ie.

“We’re over the moon, we can’t even believe it.

The singers added that manager Louis Walsh was the first to text them.

“We didn’t expect it would get to number one, no, not in our wildest dreams. It was a mad week for us,” Cian said.

“Louis gave us a text and just said congratulations on all the hard work – and more to come. He’s heading towards getting more success,” he added.

The X Factor stars group got into the festive mood yesterday at the launch of Winter Funderland at the RDS Dublin, hours before learning of their huge success.

Entertainment includes Ireland’s premier ice rink, iSkate, Europe’s largest indoor theme park, Funderland and the Fossett’s special Christmas Circus.

Winter Funderland will run in the RDS from Friday, 5th December 2014 until Sunday, 11th January 2015.
