Former Eurovision star Donna McCaul is set to break America – by auditioning on the Voice US.

The former You’re A Star winner is one of just hundreds who have been accepted to perform in front of Christina Aguilera, Blake Sheldon, Adam Levine and Pharrell.

The 30-year-old is better known for representing Ireland in the Eurovision alongside brother Joe in 2005.

Donna audition: The Eurosong winner has made it to the coaches

But now Donna is hoping for a new kick start to her career, after previously losing to Jedward for another shot at Eurovision three years ago.

She said: “Yes guys, I did it. Got through to the blind auditions in Hollywood for The Voice USA.

“Don’t know what to do with myself – a little Irish Jig maybe.” She added: “My main goal is making my mam, family and Ireland proud.”

The Westmeath rock chick’s audition will be seen when the Voice USA starts back again on February 23.

Previously Donna said she wished she had done things differently in her career – especially how she looked when her and Joe won Eurosong.

She said: “When we first entered Eurovision, he was this scrawny little guy with ginger hair and freckles.

“Now he looks brilliant. He’s been working hard at the gym and the freckles have disappeared.

“Back then, we had no say in how we were styled. Even now, I cringe looking back at the pictures.

“These days, my style is funky and feminine and I decide on my own clothes, hair and make-up.”

Donna is currently in a steady relationship with fellow singer Lauren White for six years.

She said: “I’m 100 per cent happy to be considered a gay icon. People sometimes stop me in the street to say I’m an inspiration and that’s overwhelming.”
