Michael Fassbender to be honoured with award in Killarney

Michael Fassbender is to be honoured for his film work in Killarney, Co. Kerry this year.

The Shame star will be inducted to the Order of Innisfallen and presented with the award on October 7th.

The 39-year-old will be inducted in recognition for his outstanding achievements in the film industry, having been nominated previously for the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, and the BAFTAs.

The actor is known for blockbusters like the X-Men series, Steve Jobs, and Prometheus.

The Kerry man will be honoured by Killarney’s Chamber of Tourism and Commerce for helping put the town on the map, as reported by the Killarney Advertiser.

After Michael receives his award, there will be a gala black tie ball in the Europe Hotel and Resort, which is only a stone’s throw away from his family home in Fossa, where his parents still live.
