Julia Roberts has good news for fans of her iconic movie My Best Friend’s Wedding

Julia Roberts has revealed she’d love to film a sequel to her iconic 1997 film, My Best Friend’s Wedding.

During her appearance on Thursday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the host asked if she had to choose a movie to make a follow-up to, which would it be.

The 56-year-old replied, “That’s a really good question and I’ve never been asked it,” before choosing My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Explaining the reason why she would choose this particular movie, the 56-year-old said she would like to see how the character’s lives played out, and in particular, “how Kimmy and Michael’s marriage is going.”

The 1997 comedy was a box office hit worldwide and followed the life of food journalist, Jules (Roberts), as she realises she is in love with her best friend Michael (Dermot Mulroney).

The romantic comedy had a star-studded cast, with her other co-stars including Cameron Diaz, Rupert Everett & M. Emmet Walsh.

Roberts isn’t the only star of the movie who has considered a sequel.

Her love interest in the film, Dermot Mulroney, also said he would consider revisiting his role when he appeared on an episode of The Talk in November 2018.

The actor said: “I’ve been clear from the beginning, I’ve been clear from 1997 that I’m ready for a sequel. So, I’m on record.”

The cast reunited in 2019 for a romantic comedy issue in Entertainment Weekly, where they reminisced about filming and imagined the lives of their characters now.

Roberts joked that her character, Jules, would probably be a marriage counsellor now – after she sabotaged Cameron and Dermot’s wedding in the movie.
