Gigi Hadid breaks her silence after being ‘arrested’ in Cayman Islands

Gigi Hadid has broken her silence, after being arrested in the Cayman Islands for travelling with marijuana – which she legally purchased in New York.

According to E! News, the model was stopped by officials at Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10.

It’s understood Gigi and a friend had arrived via a private jet, before officials allegedly found “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in their luggage.

The story was originally reported by local outlet Cayman Marl Road.

According to the publication, the pair were arrested on “suspicion Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja”.

Then on July 12, Gigi and her friend allegedly appeared in court, where they pleaded guilty and were both fined $1,000.

The model’s rep told E! News on Tuesday: “Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license.”

“It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

Shortly after the story broke, Gigi took to Instagram to share photos from her girls trip, which she captioned: “All’s well that ends well.”
