Sorry Pat, they don't want you back – RTE bosses 'snub' Pat Kenny after he claimed he would return

While he may have recently hinted at making a comeback – Pat Kenny may never star on RTE television again if TV bosses have anything to say about it.

The former Late Late Show host shocked viewers when he left the station in 2013 to join rival Newstalk radio and now the 63-year-old has his own chat show In The Round with UTV.

Pat admitted he thought RTE had made a “mistake” by axing his The Frontline show – and predicted he would return to his old TV home after a “cleansing period”.

However, RTE bosses are reportedly unimpressed with the TV presenter’s comments and a source revealed there’s no slot for Pat at the moment.

“RTE bosses are very happy with their current schedule of current affairs programming on RTE , which is three nights a week in peak-time viewing,” the insider revealed.

The source also claimed that Claire Byrne Live – the show that replaced Pat’s axed The Frontline – is drawing in more viewers after just a few months than the last days of Frontline.

“Claire Byrne Live on Monday nights has built a really good, solid audience in the short three months it has been on air and has a very positive reaction from viewers.”

“The new series is actually already attracting a higher audience share than the last episode of The Frontline,” they told The Star.

Meanwhile, insiders divulged that Pat’s old gig at Prime Time is doing very well under it’s new hosts Miriam O’Callaghan and David McCullagh.

“With Miriam O’Callaghan and David McCullagh at the helm, Prime Time is performing very well and is getting great interviews,” the source added.

It comes after Pat previously claimed RTE had “acknowledged” they made a mistake in axing The Frontline.
