He's on a roll! Hozier wins Ivor Novello award

2015 is proving to be Hozier year’s as the Bray native picked up an Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for his global smash hit Take Me to Church.

Winning the award at the prestigious event, the Wicklow man beat off competition from Bear Den and Ben Howard to take the home the coveted prize.

Taking to Twitter to celebrate his news, the 24-year-olds manager Caroline Downey posted: “Just thrilled @Hozier has won an #IvorNovelloAward”.

Winner: Hozier won big last weekend at the Billboard Music Awards

It’s been a whirlwind week for the singer-songwriter who picked up Top Rock Artist and Top Rock Song at last weekend’s Billboard Music Awards as well as gracing fashion bible American Vogue.

Other Irish winner’s from the Ivor Novello Awards include Belfast musician David Holmes winning for Best Original Film Score for his soundtrack for the film ’71 while Bob Geldof won The Ivors Special Anniversary Award alongside Midge Ure.

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the prestigious awards, the ceremony took place in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
