Matt Damon set for return to Ireland – as cast and crew book into lavish hotel

He caused a frenzy with his stay in Dalkey at the start of lockdown, and now Matt Damon is set to return to Ireland.

The A-list actor had been in town to start shooting new flick The Last Duel, which also stars Ben Affleck, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer.

The Ridley Scott movie was postponed after the world pandemic began, but now producers are looking to book rooms in The K Club to “quarantine staff and crew”.

Matt and Ben will be in town

According to the Irish Mail on Sunday this now puts filming in more jeopardy, as Kildare had it’s lockdown extended by two weeks.

“It’s just really bad luck and it’s not simply a question of booking another hotel because we’re talking about a lot of rooms and a lot of space needed,” an insider told the publication.

“That could be very hard to find,” the source added.

However sources told Goss.ie that production are actually now looking at the lavish Powerscourt Hotel in Wicklow instead.

“Nothing is actually booked yet, they are chopping and changing plans based on government guidelines,” an insider told Goss.ie.

Meanwhile another insider told us that Matt will not be staying in a hotel, and will go straight to a private home, but it will not be the same home in Dalkey he stayed in previously.

A cast and crew of around 200 are reportedly set to work on the film, with members beginning to check into a hotel by the end of the month.

Matt’s stay in Dublin had been a huge hit with the Irish after a photo of him by the sea with a SuperValu bag went viral.

Matt later did an exclusive interview with radio station Spin 103.8, where he called Leo Varadkar a “bad ass” and praised the Irish for welcoming him with open arms.
