Footballer Katie McCabe has hit back at “inaccurate” rumours following videos being circulated of her while on holiday.
The Irish sports star is rumoured to be seeing her Arsenal teammate Caitlin Foord after the pair sparked romance rumours during a trip to Italy in May – however, they have not publicly confirmed their relationship.
The Arsenal star was met with malicious gossip after she was talking to an unnamed woman next to the noise of the DJ booth in Ibiza.
Taking to her Snapchat, she confessed she rarely talks about her private life, however, she felt she needed to speak out to address the rumours about her.
She said: “I don’t usually really do this type of thing or respond to these types of things but it’s literally people spreading rubbish on social media and I can’t really control what people make up.”
“But, can I just ask, to those of you who have taken hours and hours out of your life to try and cause an issue, like, have you ever tried to talk to a friend next to a DJ booth?”
“It’s honestly been awful to see the rumours that have been spread.”
She continued: “So, like, rather than spread the inaccurate rumours and gossip, why don’t you think about how it would feel if you were sent those abusive messages for something that you didn’t actually do.”
“It’s not been nice, it’s not been nice to hear or read.”
Katie ended the video saying the matter has been addressed with the social media platforms and “they are probably dealing with these accounts now that shared.”
