Christina Applegate responds to concerns for her wellbeing – after admitting she doesn’t ‘enjoy living’

Christina Applegate has cleared up recent comments she made about her battle with multiple sclerosis.

Earlier this month, the actress released an episode of her MeSsy podcast.

In the podcast, recorded at the beginning of 2024, Christina candidly confessed that she doesn’t “enjoy living.”

Christina said to her co-host Jamie Lynn Sigler, who also has MS, “I don’t enjoy it. I don’t enjoy things anymore.”

“If someones like, ‘Let’s get up and go for a walk, or let’s go get a coffee, I don’t enjoy that process.”

However, during the June 18th episode of her podcast, the 52-year-old clarified the remarks she made regarding her mental health.

After her comments concerned fans, she said: “I was talking about some dark stuff that I was thinking and feeling…”

“And, no, I’m not sitting here on suicide watch. OK? I am not. Nor have I ever been.”

Christina and Jamie’s podcast hit headlines earlier this year after they released an episode recorded after the Emmys.

The Emmy Awards in January marked one of Christina’s first public outings since she announced her MS diagnosis in 2021.

She later revealed she barely remembers her Emmy appearance, saying, “I kind of blacked out.”

On August 10, 2021, the 52-year-old actress announced she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

She tweeted, “Hi friends. A few months ago, I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition.”

Following the heartbreaking announcement, Christina thanked her fans and asked for privacy at the time.

She tweeted “As one of my friends that has MS said ‘ we wake up and take the indicated action’. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you xo”.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that effects the central nervous system.

While there is no cure for the condition, symptoms can be managed.
