Matt Cooper gets huge boost in ratings – as JNLR figures are released

Today FM has beaten Newstalk and 2FM for multiple top spots in radio.

The latest JNLR reports were released today which show who is listening to what radio station and how many people are tuned in.

Matt Cooper’s The Last Word and Ian Dempsey’s breakfast show are topping the leader boards for the most listenership.

Matt’s show now brings in an audience of 139,000 listeners – 7,000 more than last year.

He also beat out George Hooks Newstalk show The Right Hook by 4,000 more people.

Today FM’s 2 hour breakfast show, The Ian Dempsey Show, remains number one for the morning slot with 180,000 listeners – 30,000 more than 2FM’s Breakfast Republic who dropped by 11,000 for their 4 hour show.

Other shows didn’t have such stellar reviews but still had a massive listenership.

The Anton Savage Show saw a small decrease of 1,000 people tuning in but still came out with a large audience of 174,000 listeners.

Anton joined the team less than 2 years ago and with results like this, he should be proud to have such a high number for being one of the Today FM babies.

Another Today FM baby is Fergal D’Arcy who joined the team in 2015 with his weekend show but recently took over Louise Duffy’s 2.30pm slot.

Fergal came from iRadio to Today FM to host his Sunday afternoon show which grew from 53,000 listeners to 56,000.
