EXCLUSIVE: Pat Kenny reveals he's 'happy' with Newstalk listenership figures – but admits 'we will plateau'

Pat Kenny has revealed he is happy with the latest radio figures, showing his show has grown by over 20,000 listeners.

Rival Sean O’Rourke is pulling in 307,000 listeners on RTE Radio 1, a drop of 4,000 over the last quarter.

“I’m happy with the figures. It’s been a nice gently upward curve,” Pat told Goss.ie.

“Eventually we will plateau but I’m hoping that won’t be anytime soon. Right now it’s just nice.”

Happy: Pat is delighted with the latest figures

Pat admitted that a large portion of the figures are listeners making the move from RTE Radio 1 to Newstalk.

“You get a big leap at the beginning when I switched, and a lot of people have moved the dial.

“Then after that it’s about being viral. People will go, ‘Did you hear what happened on Pat Kenny the other day?’ and so it grows.

“But I’m happy now we’re doing really well,” he said.
