NO third Croke Park gig for Ed Sheeran – as promoters blame Garth Brooks scandal

Ed Sheeran will not be adding anymore dates to his Croke Park gigs this summer.

After both of his Croke Park gigs sold out in under an hour, Aiken promotions have now confirmed a third date will not be announced.

It comes after the Garth Brooks controversy last year, when Aiken announced five dates, but eventually they were all cancelled.

“I can’t do it. I wouldn’t go down all that planning issue again. It’s just crazy,” Peter admitted.

Controversy: The Garth drama has caused problems for other acts

“Hopefully the laws are going to be changed. We have met the Government about this and what we would like to see happening is that
there will be changes.

“But nothing happens fast in this country. It’s not every year we have a demand for five or six concerts in Croke Park.

“Last year in Croke Park we wanted to do a number of concerts with Garth Brooks and One Direction but the previous year there were no concerts there nor in the Aviva Stadium,” he explained.

“There has to be provision when there is a knock-on like with Ed Sheeran, where you have a guy with a guitar who can sell 160,000 tickets, that another concert is possible.

“There’s a lot of disappointed people who would like to see him who are not going to see him this summer.

“As a promoter and a business person it’s a crazy set-up for a country that does love music, that does love going out to live events, more so than in other any country in the world,” he added.
