Julie Andrews, Kim Cattrall and an acting master class: Our Jameson Dublin Film Festival guide

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival kicked off this week and will play host to a number of Hollywood stars and classic films.

The festival has been running since 2003 and will feature the likes of Russell Crowe, Julie Andrews, Kim Cattrall and Alan Rickman in this years line up.

As well as playing several films over the course of two weeks – the festival will also be running a number of film and acting workshops.

The Americanisation Of Emily

Set in London during WWII, legendary actress Julie Andrews considers this to be one of her favourite films she has starred in.

The Mary Poppins actress will also be in attendance at the festival – like you needed another reason to go.

 

Screentest: Expressing Emotion, Actors In Conversation

This is the perfect workshop for aspiring actors and movie fans.

Actors Robert Sheehan, Aidan Turner and Sarah Greene will be a part of the panel at this special workshop.

The stars will discuss the different approaches they have to performance and with such an A-list line-up.

Sensitive Skin

Sex And The City fans will be happy to hear that the Jameson festival will be playing two Kim Cattrall films, the other being Meet Monica Velour.

The Hollywood actress will also be taking part in a Q&A session following the screening of Sensitive Skin in Dundrum.

 

Glassland

Already a huge hit at the Sundance Film Festival, Glassland is definitely one of the highlights of JDIFF.

Following a Dublin taxi-driver, Jack Reynor plays the lead and gives a stunning performance.

Toni Colette plays his alcoholic mother, another smash hit from Gerard Barrett.

 

Lost River

Lost River is definitely one of the must-sees for this years festivities.

The film stars one of Ireland’s biggest stars – Saoirse Ronan, and is also the directorial debut of Hollywood heavyweight Ryan Reynolds.

The pair had been wanting to work together for years so their first collaboration is bound to be a hit.

The Jameson Dublin Film festival runs March 19-29.
