Zayn Malik has admitted that he hates the word celebrity, and that it’s a dangerous path to go down.
Since the singer left One Direction, he’s launched his own solo career and is even working on a new TV show about a boy band.
Despite the singer’s fame and fortune, Zayn isn’t too fond of having a well-known face.
“I hate the word celebrity. I think it’s a dangerous road to go down, thinking of yourself as a celebrity,” he said.

Zayn also revealed that it’s important to know who your real friends are – and to know how to spot fake friends.
“Then you somehow automatically think that label makes you superior to other people,” he told Highsnobiety.
“Some people just want to hang around you because they know your name, so they think that means they know you, and I can see through that b******* a mile off.
“I struggle with the invasion of privacy that comes with this job. I also think one of the most negative aspects of being in the public eye is that you have no control over people’s perception of you.”

When the Bradford native left One Direction – he wasn’t prepared for the huge fan reaction to his departure, but admits he never takes his actions into consideration.
“I don’t think you can ever be prepared for something like that,” he revealed.
“I knew there would be a big reaction in the press, because there was so much attention on us at that point, but I had no idea how fans would react.
“I try not to take [my actions] into consideration too much because if I did, I’d never do anything. It’s a lot of pressure. I never claimed to be a role model, I just make music.”
