Rebekah Vardy hits back at Coleen Rooney after bombshell Vogue interview

Rebekah Vardy has hit back at Coleen Rooney, following her bombshell interview with British Vogue.

In the interview, which was published on Thursday, the wife of Wayne Rooney broke her silence on the Wagatha Christie trial.

Rebekah has since accused Coleen of seeking “publicity”, and has urged her to “move on” from the drama.

Just hours after the interview was published, Rebekah posted a snap of herself in a bikini on Instagram.

In the comment section, a fan poked fun at Coleen’s cover interview with Vogue by writing: “I reckon vogue mag being a superstar n all that 😉😉😉😉.”

Rebekah responded: “Boring now isn’t it,” with the fan then adding: “Desperate.”

Taking aim at Coleen, the wife of Jamie Vardy then replied: “Don’t give me publicity I’m private but please give me publicity 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.”

In another comment, Rebekah wrote: “What I don’t get why you would want to keep bringing it up. It’s boring now! The public doesn’t care and neither do I. She won that’s the end of it! Be happy move on… because I know I have x.”

Another follower then commented: “You dragged her through the courts to hang yourself so she has a right to tell her side tbh. You made the mistakes here, not her!”

Rebekah then replied: “What a year later! Give me a break! And yes I did because I don’t do anything wrong! And I’ll take that to my grave! If I had done it believe me I would have flicked the middle finger and said yeah and what!”

The Instagram user responded: “You were found guilty though by the top suits and you can’t really preach innocence now can you? I know you’d rather it go away but she still has a right to tell her side and her experience of this ordeal too and people want to listen.”

Rebekah then added: “I’ve preached innocence from day one and that won’t change! And are you telling me they don’t get things wrong… because I have a very long list that they f***ed up! But it doesn’t suit the narrative!”

“It’s fine I’m cool with being the bad guy! Maybe I’ll just start playing up to that now.”

In her interview with British Vogue, Coleen spoke out about the Wagatha Christie trial for the first time, and revealed how it affected her marriage to Wayne Rooney.

The WAG also addressed brutal messages that surfaced during the trial between Rebekah and her former agent.

Coleen said: “The texts knocked me sick, they were just another level.”

“When I was reading them I was thinking: the evilness and the hatred that they had for someone that they don’t even know.”

The mother-of-four said she still stands by what she wrote in her explosive social media statement, which was posted in October 2019.

Coleen’s original statement

Coleen told the magazine: “What I said in that post, I still stick by today.”

Revealing how the trial took a toll on her marriage, the 37-year-old said: “He was supportive, you know, but it took its toll.”

“He kept saying all the way throughout it: ‘Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.’ But there were certain moments where we did have disagreements.”

“Not over the case, but he would get annoyed with me because I was quite short-tempered. I didn’t have time for him, I lost my focus.”

The drama between Coleen and Rebekah kicked off in October 2019.

At the time, the wife of Wayne Rooney posted a statement on social media, claiming she had planted false information on her private Instagram page and blocked everyone from her story – except Rebekah’s account.

The mother-of-four said stories about her basement flooding, returning to TV, and gender selection were only viewed by Rebekah’s account – and the false stories all made it into the press.

Coleen believed this was proof that her fellow WAG allegedly sold stories about her private life, but Rebekah vehemently denied her claims.

Their lengthy legal battle concluded with a seven-day trial at London’s High Court in May 2022.

The highly-publicised trial saw both WAGs give evidence in court, as Rebekah tried to prove she wasn’t behind the leaks.

However, Coleen defended her claim in court on the basis her post was “substantially true”.

Mrs Justice Steyn, who oversaw the week-long case in May, delivered her written ruling in July 2022.

In her ruling, the judge agreed with Coleen’s defence, and said it was “likely” that Rebekah’s then-agent, Caroline Watt, “undertook the direct act” of passing information to The Sun newspaper.

Rebekah strongly denied Coleen’s claims in court, but on the final day of the trial, she accepted that her former agent Caroline, who had access to her Instagram account, may have been behind the leaks.

Coleen has since signed a “multi-million pound” deal with Disney+ for the rights to a tell-all documentary about the Wagatha Christie case; meanwhile Rebekah has reportedly signed a deal to take part in a separate tell-all documentary.
