Matty Healy has announced The 1975’s “indefinite hiatus”.

The frontman delivered the news to the crowd during their concert in Sacramento, California on Tuesday.

In a clip, shared by a fan on social media, Matty said: “After this tour, we will be going on an indefinite hiatus of shows, so it’s wonderful to have you guys with us tonight.”

“We always love… playing for you guys whenever we have the chance,” Matty continued in the video. “It’s wonderful you’re all here.”

A host of fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their disappointment over the band’s “indefinite hiatus”.

One user penned: “Nooooooooooooooooo plz come back,” while another wrote: “i actually just started tearing up.”

The 1975 comprises of four members – lead vocalist Matty, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald and drummer George Daniel.

The popular rock band first met in secondary school, forming in 2002.

They first professionally released music in 2012.
