Love Island bosses respond to backlash over Faye Winter’s behaviour

Love Island bosses have responded to backlash over Faye Winter’s behaviour on Friday night’s show.

Fans of the show complained to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom following the dramatic episode, which saw Faye erupt after watching a clip of Teddy Soares admitting he was “sexually attracted” to Casa Amor contestant Clarisse Juliette.

The 26-year-old claimed Teddy lied to her about what really went on in Casa Amor, and loudly screamed at him in front of the whole villa.

Teddy defended himself by insisting nothing happened between him and Clarisse in the second villa – as he slept outside the whole time he was there.

The pair eventually sat down for a one-on-one chat, where Faye quickly ended their romance – before storming off and telling Teddy to “f*** off”.

Their row sparked a huge reaction on social media, and most viewers seemed to side with Teddy – as they believe he did nothing wrong.

Some fans were so outraged over the scenes that they complained to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.

Addressing the backlash, a spokesperson for the show told The Mirror: “Welfare and duty of care towards our contributors is always our primary concern, and we take the emotional well-being of all the Islanders extremely seriously.”

“We have dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times who monitor and regularly speak to all of the Islanders in private and off camera, especially if someone appears to be upset.”

“All the Islanders are therefore fully supported by the professionals on-site and by their friends in the villa. Islanders can always reach out and talk to someone if they feel the need.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.
