Lisa Armstrong shows rare support for ex-husband Ant McPartlin as he bids farewell to Saturday Night Takeaway

Lisa Armstrong extended an olive branch to her ex-husband Ant McPartlin, as he bid farewell to Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend.

The TV presenter and his co-host Declan Donnelly drew the series to an emotional close on Saturday night, after 22 years on air.

Many fans took to social media to congratulate the pair – with Ant’s ex-wife also giving a very rare show of support by liking a post calling the duo “simply the best” as they celebrated their milestone achievement.

The post read: “After 20 years this amazing show is coming to an end it’s been a real joy & pleasure to have been there from the beginning, & in my 30 year career in showbiz I’ve worked with some brilliant people but these two are simply the best! Great friendships & memories made.”

This rare show of support is a change for Lisa, who has previously used her social media to like a slew of messages slamming her ex’s behaviour.

Ant and Lisa announced their shock split in 2018, just eight months after Ant left rehab for substance abuse issues.

The couple were together for 23 years and married for 11 – with Dec even being best man at their wedding.

One year after their split, Ant’s romance with their former PA Anne-Marie Corbett was uncovered – which left Lisa feeling a huge sense of betrayal.

In October 2018, Ant and Lisa were granted a decree nisi in a hearing that lasted under 30 seconds.

During their divorce proceedings, Ant admitted adultery as his relationship with Anne-Marie started when they were still married – although they were separated at the time.

While relations between Ant and his ex Lisa have been contentious over the past few years, it appears the dust has now settled between them.

Ant and Anne-Marie are now expecting their first child together, after tying the knot in August 2021.
