The Masked Singer UK fans react as the identity of Lionfish is revealed

Lionfish became the third contestant to be unmasked and sent home from the third season of The Masked Singer UK.

The popular ITV show, hosted by Joel Dommett, follows a group of masked stars who battle it out on stage with their singing talents.

At the end of each episode, one celebrity’s identity is revealed as they are unmasked on stage in a wild guessing game.

Will Young was unmasked as Lionfish on Saturday night’s show after he found himself in the sing-off against fellow contestant Firework.

The 42-year-old, who rose to fame on Pop Idol 20 years ago, sang Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You for the movie-themed week.

Judges Jonathan Ross and Rita Ora correctly guessed Lionfish’s identity.

After being revealed, Will admitted he was concerned about Jonathan noticing his voice, saying: “It was really hard to try and disguise it.”

He added: “It’s been the most incredible opportunity and such a brilliant challenge to take on.”

Speaking after his exit, the singer said: “It’s very liberating taking to the stage when no-one knows it’s you. I even shut my eyes when I sang Nessun Dorma. No-one’s looking at your face, it’s amazing.”

“I would highly recommend it. Particularly when you’re dressed as a fish in this amazing outfit.”

Fans took to Twitter to react to Saturday night’s show, with many believing Lionfish should’ve stayed in the competition longer.

One viewer tweeted: “Why would they vote off Lionfish?! He’s amazing! #MaskedSingerUK”

Another wrote: “Lionfish should have stayed longer – a better singer than some of the others. #MaskedSingerUK”

Last weekend, Chandelier was unmasked as Heather Small, the lead singer of M People, and Snow Leopard was unmasked as Gloria Hunniford.
