Strictly Come Dancing has danced ahead of the X Factor in TV ratings.
The competition stars Bray native Laura Whitmore paired with dancer Giovanni Pernice.
An average of 5.8 million people tuned in on Saturday night to watch the X Factor whereas an average of 9.8 million watched Strictly.

According to the Irish Independent, the dance show peaked when 10.8 million viewers watched Strictly but the X Factor’s highest number of viewers was just 6.7 million.
Even with the massive success of the show, Laura has revealed that it’s not all glitz and glamour in the contest.
