Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Toy Show: ‘I do feel like Santa’

The host has presented the show since he took over from Pat Kenny in 2009

Ryan Tubridy has admitted that he feels like Santa on the Late Late Toy Show.

The Dubliner first became host of the Late Late Show in 2009 taking over from Pat Kenny – and subsequently became the Late Late Toy Show host.

“I do [feel a bit like Santa], a little bit because they think you’ve a direct line to the North Pole,” he said.

The presenter revealed what people can expect from this year’s show – like a house made of sweets and a feathered friend.

“I always tell them we just have good contacts there, we’re in touch with one or two of the elves,” he told the Irish Sun.

“I’ve been in a house made of sweets with an owl and a surrounding train-set and there’s lots of chocolate and everyone’s excited, it’s fantastic.

“We’ve been putting in the work with the ‘singing and dancing’ – and I’m using quotation marks there quite literally. But we’ ve been putting in the training and looking forward to it.”

It was previously revealed that the opening of the show will be the biggest and most ambitious task RTE has ever undertaken for the show – and Ryan teased that he’ll be doing a little jig for it.

“The opening (of the show) is going to a little different. I’m starting dancing lessons next week for the opening number.

“It’s just to get me to loosen up the limbs. I’m not a particularly active person. But it is incredible, how popular these tickets are.

“Everywhere we go, especially now that we have taken the show on the road, I get people asking, ‘Any tickets, Ryan?'” he added.

The Late Late Toy Show will air Friday, December 2nd at 9.35pm.
