PJ Gallagher has revealed that he was thrown over a table for telling a “stupid joke” at one of his gigs.
The comedian was performing for guests at Derry Clarke’s l’Ecrivain restaurant four years ago, but hit a bum note with one of his gags.
“I had a Russian man out me in a head lock and throw me over a table once so my comeback was to run home,” he said.
“It was a gig in a restaurant and he stood up in front of me and was roaring noise.

“I asked him where he was from and he said Russia and I said, I know it’s a stupid joke – but I said :’If you don’t sit down you’ll get a kicking in the Bolsheviks’ and he put me in a headlock and threw me over a table,” he told the Irish Daily Star.
Despite PJ making a holy show of himself, he admitted that it was a corporate gig so nobody even noticed the scuffle – and he managed to escape unharmed.
“It was one of those corporate gigs that was going so badly that nobody even noticed.
“So I ran out the door,” he added.
